Species List

Listed below are the many species which may be found in our forest plot in Niquette Bay State Park. This list was compiled using a computer program called NEwild.

NEwild was developed by the USDA to aid in ecosystem management. By setting certain parameters of your ecosystem, NEwild will generate a list of species that could possibly be found in the described landscape.

We have input the ecological parameters of our NBSP forest plot into NEWILD, and listed here are the species that were generated.  (However, because the program doesn't take into account certain important considerations such as greater landscape ecology and natural history, we have edited the generated species list of our plot to be more rationally accurate.)

Included in the parameters of our plot used to generate this list are habitat features including canopy exposure, tree bole types, mid- and overstory description, shrub layer, ground vegetation cover, and ground  features.
